Seafood with a view
Lobster Rolls with the best view in town
Grab a lobster roll or a steaming cup of clam chowder from Chatham Pier Fish Market and take it up to the observation deck for a front-row view of Chatham’s working waterfront. No matter the weather or time of year, there’s always something new to see – boats unloading the day’s catch, crews at work, and the steady rhythm of the commercial fishing industry in action. It’s a rare look into life on a real fish pier, something you truly can’t experience anywhere else.
Keep your eyes on the sand, sky, and sea: seals often cruise the harbor, seabirds soar overhead, and you’ll catch glimpses of what’s being brought up from under the sea as fishermen offload their haul. It’s Cape Cod at its most authentic – fresh seafood in hand with the waterfront story unfolding right in front of you.
THE ICONIC CHATHAM FISH PIER
The Chatham Fish Pier Market was founded over half a century ago by Willard Nickerson, also known as “The Codfather.” In the 1950’s, it was called Nickerson’s Fish and Lobster in the small building next to the Fish Pier. For decades, visitors and locals alike have been buying iconic fresh shellfish, lobsters, and local fish straight off the boats docked nearby.
Being located directly on a working fish pier gives our market an unmatched advantage in freshness and quality. Customers benefit from seafood that comes straight off the boat, often within hours of being caught, while local fishermen enjoy a convenient, reliable location to sell their daily catch. That close connection keeps the supply chain short, the standards high, and the Cape Cod flavor front and center.
The Chatham Fish Pier is also a living hub of commercial fishing and maritime heritage. With boats coming and going, crews offloading the day’s haul, and the steady buzz of a true working waterfront, the atmosphere is as authentic as it gets. For Chatham Pier Fish Market, it means direct access to exceptional seafood and strong, long-standing relationships with the local fishing community – supporting sustainable practices and helping keep Chatham’s fishing tradition thriving.
